Privacy Policy

These are the official webpages of Crisischat.org (aka Crisis Chat). If you do not agree to be bound by the following terms of use, you are not authorized to use and must immediately discontinue any use of this Site.

Preamble

Crisis Chat respects your privacy and treats the information you provide in a way that secures your privacy. We collect no personal information about you when you use this website unless you choose to provide that information to us. We offer this Privacy Policy to explain to you how we treat personal information.

You may use Crisis Chat without personally identifying yourself. Chat Specialists do not provide treatment or care; they will only provide information on services, guidance and assistance, and helpful online resources via Crisis Chat.

If the Chat Specialist concludes that you are at imminent danger of harming yourself or others, the Chat Specialist will request your contact information (i.e. telephone number and/or address) so they can attempt to provide you with additional assistance, including sending local emergency services to you.  As a Visitor, you may refuse to provide this information.  If however, the Chat Specialist still believes you are at imminent danger of harming yourself or others, they may use other information available to them (e.g. your IP address) to help local emergency personnel locate you to provide you with further assistance.
